We realize that this blog has been a bit thin on new... well, news as of late. We have a good reason for this – and it's not that we haven't been up to anything interesting recently. On the contrary, we have a handful of great things coming soon!
We previewed one such feature a few weeks back: the upcoming Multiply toolbar. But that's not all we've been working on.
Another cool feature currently in the works is an enhancement to the way Multiply users leave comments for other users. While it's always been possible to leave plain text (perhaps enhanced with a bit of tasteful HTML), have you ever wanted to leave someone a comment in your own spoken voice — or even better — your voice enhanced with facial expressions (in other words, with your webcam)?
In the near future, you'll be able to do both of these things, and it'll be almost as easy as leaving a text comment... maybe even easier – none of that, you know... pesky typing.

How very YouTube-esque.
Except on YouTube, people with webcams and too much free time only post poorly-done video replies to other people's poorly-done videos. Here, we'll be able to post poorly-done video or audio replies to all kinds of content! Woo!
Two questions:
1. Can there please be a checkbox in settings that I can (un)check to make it so people can't leave multimedia replies to things on my Multiply site? And how about groups I admin, while you're at it?
2. How does this new example of feeping creaturism brings us closer to being able to post recurring events in our calendars, which as the devs may recall was the #1 requested feature that time half a year ago that you asked in MUDS, which I've personally been asking for much longer than that, and which has been a "maybe in the next major release" feature for the last couple major releases...? :)
Multiply staff, I want to HUG YOU! and soon I will be able to say this in my own voice!!!! I have not always been your friend, but this will make me a very big fan!
The option to disable this (either globally or per-entry basis) would be very welcome for us who still have to contend with less than ideal bandwidth (or proxy users, for that matter).

I remember a discussion about this feature (to be honest, I asked Multiply to add a new feature enabling us to record voices as a reply or something similar) in the Multiply Users & Developers Group. At that time, I had an imagination of a father in business trip that after a hard day full of boring meetings, comes to his hotel room, opens his Multiply Page and found that he got a voice message from his daughter. But When Meg and other people mentioned me that it may be done other way, you may also got someone's ridiculous that hearing his voice only will annoys you more, I thought again.
I mean making things very fancy is not work always. Especially considering other essential requirements such as having recurring events in our calendars, better management of audio files, better management of User Lists, better management of tags, ability to create albums from Video Files, ability to replace a video after publishing it, having more option to create customized templates, ability to add RSS feeds to our Message Page, and many other things that most of them discussed in MUDS group before, I must say that, you don't get a "good job", but it is a "nice to have thing" that had done before many "must to have" things :D

I Remember the post Reza & I Also asked & also mentioned about a webcam possiblity & & toolbar and was told flat out Back then in the old days that webcam & voice wont come to Multiply - Guess what its turning up now..........
I Also agree with the added option of templates for our RSS Feeds that users & members see without needing to have a browser addon

NO Matter the thousands that say NO - SHUT UP BUGS-- THE Time will come when multiply will be forced to remove them and or cause the said account or accounts to be closed down.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Yet again another old post we both made over the long time we have been with multiply

These added options wouldnt be forced on to a user & would also come with Notes on how or whom they will would work for best....
( dial up users - 56k ) would have the most problems -- as in not anuff bandwidth or speed to use such items - but would not stop them from accessing the items nor from using them.
I Have no limits so have no trouble at all with whatever -- Cam's would have to be set up GOOD as there are so many backdoor proggies ( programs ) that are set to bypass restrictsions... ---- which could cause MP To have a speed problem if used wrongly...

Why say no - is it cause your scared of users knowing how you sound. EASY - Use a voice scambler like I Do......- you,ll here it when this vocal option is On - or Micophone or sound card option is on or whatever sound option is added..
As others have said, if you are going to add this setting then we need to have the option of disabling it. Obviously some people will love it (the younger ones perhaps?), but I do not want people leaving voice messages on my site. Please take into account that some of us like a bit of quiet!
(I'll just go put my slippers on now and get ready for an early night...)
anyways. just a suggestion.. maybe u could let us blog in such a way that we can choose who can read a particular post. say we wanna make it public or private or just viewable to selected contacts.

may i suggest something?.. i'd really like to see a feature in multiply that allows sharing of other files aside from pics like .doc or .ppt file.. thankss. :)
that not really what I am looking for .. but that maybe will useful for someone else. What i am suffering now .. when reviewing people's post, is that I cant subscribe to their post directly from the post-page , the only option available is to 'share' or 'reply'. I check my inbox more often that mutlipy's message board. I can only subscribe to a post from message-board. Which will give another pain, let say you subscribe to a post in the 2nd page, the site be will refreshed and bring you back to your first screen - it cannot remember my last position :(
Just make sure that the multimedia not loaded in the browser automatically. I have a very poor connection here. Just display an icon to bec clicked if I want to view / listen it.

Here is a Item we or loads of us have asked for before & kind of got the doors shut in our faces with no proper answers to why not or when.......
Can group owners have new updated rules & options for 2nd & 3rd admins..... And could we have the abiltiy to stop admins from a possible deleting of the group,
NO Offence ladys & gentleman -- But be honest WHOM DO WE KNOW OR TRUST 100% on Multiply.. and no new or temporary admin should be able to delete ( or be able too ) delete the said group he or she is on..-- THE MAIN Admin ( owner ) should only have those rights.
Yes, including my mp3 files, but as a member I have a right to post my own creations. Whats next, no videos, then no photos, oh well text is also copyrited so that should be ruled out also.
I agree that if your name, or your band's name is not on the copyrite notice, you should keep it out of the public area. If mp starts getting into non public areas and saying what I can't put there, then it would be time for them to begin paying me for drawing people to their web site.
w00t this is awesome can't wait......... but like others said I would like to see a checkbox to allow media replies to the content on my site that I decide is worthy of the feature!
I wish we got the option to disable the posting of video/sound in the comment box... or else, our Web pages would load up real slow in our country with cranky internet connections....
Maybe, just maybe, it would be possible to make this site LEGAL? Like DOWNLOADING SONGS ILLEGALLY? Uh... I think I'm gonna report this website. Have fun, illegal people.
i hope we have an option to not allow this in our comments. this can get annoying and overwhelming. I don't think everyone wants to view video or voice comments.
Wow! that would be so cool! most esp. to those people who love vlogging just like me! (video blogging) However, when I am watching videos here in multiply, I've noticed that somehow the loading of the video files is kinda slow compared to other video hosting sites like YouTube. Anyway, I still amazed on how multiply works! It always surprise me with their new features. hopefully soon the loading of videos will be much faster.
I wish Multiply would come up with a way we can organize our music better. Also can the help with developing our pages be better organized and presented (too much hunting around). Otherwise I've been very pleased with Multiply.
hey this is great!! talking about other new features - would it be possible to have the option of keeping some contacts private & some for everyone as well...??

I'm a little late finding this post. lol But as long as these multimedia replies don't auto start, I'm ok with having them enabled and giving them a try. But I don't want to open a page and have five replies start talking, singing, winking and flashing me, (seriously.. I mean FLASHING ME! lol) all at the same time. Or.. not even one til I see who left it first! lol
I still want the option to globally disable them though if I choose.
