Blog EntryNew Feature: Yahoo 360° ImportOct 24, '07 6:28 PM
for everyone
Consider this just a quick note to let you know that we've added a new service to our list of content imports – it's now easier than ever to move over blog entries that you've previously posted to Yahoo 360° to your Multiply site!

Update: Confused? Sorry! To try this out, click the Post link at the top of any page, followed by Blog. Underneath the regular compose entry box, you'll find a Yahoo 360° link (near the bottom of the page, where it says "Add Blog From"). Or, just click here.

I'm really interested in this new feature, and I thought that if I clicked the "our list of content imports" link it would take me to it, but it only loops me back to the main Multiply Blog page???

I've looked a bunch of places, and am having no luck finding a link to this tool elsewhere.

eeermm...HELP!!!

Thank you Mulitply for welcoming us Yahoo 360 folks with open arms. We are battered and bruised from the last few weeks there and its been pleasant coming to a place that knows what customer service is about. In fact Im actually amazed that you noticed all of us. This bunch of people created a wonderful community there on 360. We have laughed and cried thru many things together and we all wondered just where Yahoo was going with this mess and what would happen to us too. While Ive stumbled around here a bit trying to figure things out I like that there is so much help around too. I may have missed it so please forgive me but what Id really like to see is a tutorial. ... a step by step with everything on here to help folks make the most of your product. I am coaching folks on how to do things as many are now with all our friends but there still are things I dont know how to do. Some Ive researched on here and couldnt find answers for. It could be just me ...but I think a step by step tutorial for beginners would be an awesome thing. Not everyone is familiar with computers and blogging and how it all operates. Something like this would make it ez for others who come here to use your product. Hugs and many thank you's tho for being so wonderful to our groups here. AWESOME AAAA+++++ SERVICE!!

I have re-imported my blogs....and there seems to be a problem with words or phrases that are in quotation marks being distorted with strange symbols and letters. I see you got the apostrophe thing and uTube worked out....great work!!!

My blogs are all poetry and not time sensitive at all...in fact they are from anywhere from 5 minutes ago to 33 years ago...rather than join the deluge, I will bring them slowly...discovery is so much fun...I'm enjoying your product very much.

I managed to transport the blogs I really wanted with attached comments to Multiply last week. It was done one at a time, but I managed. This will be very useful tool for those who are in the process of moving their blogs now. For that, I thank you.

I'm thrilled that Multiply has welcomed us open arms. You've bent over backwards to help us through a very rough period in our lives.

Thank you.

Click on the "Post" link in the top navigation bar (found on every page) and then click on "Blog" icon, which will take you to the blog compose page. On the bottom of this page there is a group of import links.

You will find the link for Yahoo 360 import there. Click on it and enter your yahoo id and password and submit the form.

I'm so happy about this but I have one little problem. My yahoo address ends in com.au rather then just .com so I can't enter my yahoo details. Is there at some point going to be an option for selecting the region for yahoo for all the people that don't live in America?
earlofmar1715 wrote on Oct 24, '07
That is GREAT news. Looks like a lot of people are doing a 180 on 360.

Your import tool is very glitchy. It won't move all the blogs and the ones it does move it doubles, triples and even moves in quadruplets! Which means I have to delete the copies. And it would only move about 20 of my blogs total. I have 193 I'd like to move. What a hassle! Guess I'll have to move mine manually myself. Very disappointed in the tool. However, so far I am liking the site a lot! Yahoo dropped the ball..big time for a lot of us 360'ers.

I wonder if the amount of blog import is the issue? I only imported 2 blogs but then again others have had great success w/importing over a 100 @ a time. I am sure however that Multiply takes all of these things into account and will respond, unlike Yahoo!.

Thanks so much for the import tool! I was really dreading moving all my 360 entries over, but it was so simple and it worked wonderfully for me. I think I'm really gonna like it here at Multiply! This is already *WAY* better than 360! Yahoo just didn't seem to ever want to listen to any of our problems and actually do something to fix them. Thank you for taking all us Y360 refugees in with open arms!

meonomous wrote on Oct 25, '07
You have not made this facility available for those of us with yahoo.co.uk addresses, which is what my 360 account is. Why is this? And is there any chance you could include an import tool for yahoo UK addresses?

Just transfered my Blogs (thanks to Ronda's Blog - MWAHH Roo), BUT it wouldn't give me a List of ALL my Blogs - and I got only 37 on 360 in total!! So I did not choose all of them anyway (ticked it OFF) - and still didn't show me the OLDEST Blogs (#1 till 10 or so) from my 360 Blogs! ANYONE????

To jadeheart and bookworm - see rondamiller's Blog (see her post above!!)- helped me a lot!
mrsportsmedicine wrote on Oct 25, '07
How do I use the import option? Im lost.
If you go to "post" .. and choose post to your blog:
then at the bottom of the compose page is options to cross-post and to add a blog
there should be an option to add a blog from yahoo 360 (as well as blogger, livejournal, etc)
click the box for yahoo360-
you'll then be asked for you yahoo ID & password..
and then you pick/choose which blog entries to add/import.

it has some bugs in it.. i guess with not importing all your blogs? or only going so far back?
dunno.
I haven't needed to import/add from yahoo.

best of luck

samuraisan wrote on Oct 25, '07
ok after reading some of the posts I think I know why I cannot use the transfer tool...the default setting for I/D is set to < @yahoo.com > whereas mine is < @yahoo.co.uk > So what do I do to make a painless transfer..or do I have to copy/paste each one!! Sigh! (Maybe Multifly can change coding so we can use the " co.uk " prefix ) Would appreciate some feed back ...Thanks
keir32 wrote on Oct 25, '07
You could post your blogs over via email.

Same goes for .cn .ca .in users too and others.

It would be nice if you tell us why!
pkailasa wrote on Oct 25, '07
For those who are having problems with the imports, all I can say is: please be patient. It's a new tool and the kinks are being worked out.

Also, bear in mind that for the import tool to work correctly, the site where the blogs are imported from should be reachable. Comments over at the Yahoo 360 product blog suggest sporadic problems with the blog sites, even when visited in the browser. If the site availability is problematic, it's likely that the import tool would have problems as well.

So, please be patient, and more importantly, give us specific information when you have problems.
yeshayesha wrote on Oct 25, '07
When I try to import, only 5 blogs out of 300 show up.
eckybay wrote on Oct 25, '07
Thanks for making us feel welcomed!

When I first tried the import, I got maybe 30 entries to show as available for import. Only 5 made it. I have 296 blog entries total. I'll try again when yahoo seems to be behaving it's self a bit better - when ever that may be.
randytuggle wrote on Oct 25, '07

reconstitutedteen wrote on Oct 25, '07
Sorry, I was a little upset when I posted my comment above. You're right, with all the problems going on over at 360 it's probably a glitch coming from the YAHELL side. One more reason to be here.

I have definitely found my new "home"!!
With over 700 blog entries I will still be transferring the most important ones and printing or saving the rest elsewhere.

Thanks to ANGEL for finding this place!! It is good to be home.

Blogging on Yahoo 360 has been more of a frustration lately for all of us rather than a real pleasure - especially when our blogging time is very limited. Thank you for offering this great tool.
Comment deleted at the request of the author.
unityserenity wrote on Oct 25, '07
Unfortunately, and maybe this is more an issue on the Yahoo side, since the blogs have gone crazy there, but this tool was only able to draw upon the blogs created in since June 2007, even though I have more blogs than that but still under 300 entries. Is there anyway to get the old ones?

Thank you for being so helpful to those of us migrating over from 360. It is really appreciated and hope Multiply as a community will benefit from all of us joining and bringing our great energy and community over here.

ok, so I did the import thing (VERY COOL by the way - yes there were some duplicates, but cleaned that up pretty quick, and still TONS faster than if I had tried to do this manually) - had to do the LIST a couple of times, because the list picked up different ones sometimes, but I think I got them all . . . so, here's MY question:
some of the pictures that I had on the blogs did not come through . . . they are now squares with a red x in the corner . . . mostly happened on the older blogs --- is there any way to fix this?
