Blog EntryFeatured Feature: Blog AttachmentsMay 6, '08 6:42 PM
for everyone
Multiply is a great place to share things like your photos, videos and blog entries... but what about your spreadsheets? PDFs? Other random things?

Guess what — you can do all that here too. Just attach the file, or files, to a blog entry.

Long-time Multiply users likely already know this. Not-as-long-time users may have even taken notice.

It's been well over a year since we first introduced this feature, and we thought it was a great time to re-introduce it to those who may not have been aware. So... if you want to share any random type of file on Multiply, here's how:

First, create a new blog entry. (Or edit an existing one.)

Then, click the paper-clip icon you'll find on the blog editor toolbar. (If you don't see the bar and use Safari, try upgrading to the latest version.)

Next, select the file you'd like to attach. (You can attach up to five files, each smaller than 20 MB.)

Finally, save your changes to the blog entry. (Use the handy "Save Changes" button.)

Have you learned something new today? If you already knew about this, how have you found the feature useful?

Note that files shared on Multiply have in no way been scanned for viruses or other malware. We don't recommend downloading files shared by people you don't necessarily trust, but thought we should remind you that it's a good idea to keep your virus scanner active and up-to-date, regardless.

I've used this once and am likely to use it again. I particularly like the ability to attach a PDF file, so people reading it can't make changes.
onlydave wrote on May 6
Wow, I did NOT know you could do this. I definitely see some uses for it, though. Are there size limitations?
onlydave wrote on May 6
Oops. I see now, 5 files, 20 MB each. That's more than plenty.

Actualy, I knew about it but I've never had a reason to use it. Any files I want to share with the public are stored on a virtual hard drive and anything else is usualy small enough to send in an email attachment. Maybe someday ............

Yes I knew of it and have used it extensively to upload Powerpoint files, the only true way to do it. Many users seem to be unaware and upload pps files as videos. Pity

Nice work, keep it up.
John.

I was used to attach some small sound/music files and then link to them within my blog content, but recently I found that by clicking on them, they don't play, instead of that, the browser tries to open it as a text file, are you did it by mean? For example to prevent users from uploading music files?

Ever thought about the possibility that people could use this function
for attaching MP3 files ?

LOL

Anyway it's a really useful function if you are discussing an issue.
Then you can share a configuration file or office document this way
to show others what you mean.

Thank you for providing web space for that !

thank you very much

==== Personally me need a counter with detailed statistics about visitors of my blog (like Sitemeter or Google Analytics). Can you? Or just enable javascript for the blog templates and I'll do all your dirty job myself.

My site has 3 site counters on front page. You actually be able to manipulate the javascript in order to put any sitemeter on your page

Blog attachment is a powerfull feature ( Thank you MP for this). It's kinda like files hosting. You almost be able to attach any format files such as text files, .html .pdf, images format .jpg .gif, video format .mpg .avi then put your file on album's description by embedding its files.

Tip for you : try to embedd your MP3 files. Use this Multiply feature Multiply audio player

photos get deleted after 6 months?
actually not get deleted, Your photos will be remain on your album but get reduced in size (for high resolution images) since there's no order (prints, merchandises) after 6 months. Mine have losted many Hi-res photos ever since

Wow something new..

I am wondering about if Multiply can do anything about the guestbook posts..mainly in question can Multiply make it so that when you get an email notice about someone having responded to a guestbook if it would say whose guestbook the comment went into.

Right now they say something like..Heather has posted a guestbook reply. If it could read like Heather has posted a reply in Amy's guestbook it would be real helpful

I've only used this once, but it's nice to know it's there in case I ever need it again. I can see how this would be really useful for something work related or for someone who uses pdf files a lot. Good one.
