Want to win a lifetime of Multiply Premium and other prizes? Announcing the Official Multiply Theme Design Contest
Multiply is a great place to store and share your photos, videos, blog posts and more with your friends and family (and to stay closer to them through the things they share). Multiply members can even express themselves by personalizing their Multiply site with customized themes. And with Multiply Premium you get great extras, like automated backups of all your high-resolution photos and videos, no ads across Multiply, discounts on photo products, and more.
So, for all of you aspiring designers, or those who have created their own themes, now is your chance to win a lifetime subscription of Multiply Premium, a little Multiply fame and glory for yourself, and also a free year of Premium for those closest to you.
Here’s how it works: All Multiply members are invited to submit a custom theme design. The Multiply team will then select eight (8) themes as finalists, which will then be shared with the entire Multiply community and voted on, to determine the winners.
Prizes:
One (1) Grand Prize Winner: The top vote-getter will win a lifetime subscription to Multiply Premium, plus their theme will be featured at the top of our official Multiply theme page, and one (1) year of Premium for 5 family members.
Three (3) Second Place Winners: Receive one Free year of Multiply Premium, plus their theme will be featured on the official Multiply theme page, and one (1) year of Premium for 3 family members.
Four (4) Third Place Winners: Receive one Free year of Multiply Premium.
Send a Personal Message from your own user ID to: themecontest and include a link to your theme post, from the Customized Themes group.

The voting will end on July 24th, and winners will be announced on July 28th.
Limit of one theme submission per person. You must have rights to all graphic elements of the design in your submission. Winning themes will be featured for a limited time. BUT the fine print says you must have all the rights to all of your elements of your design, two weeks wouldn't give me enough time to make everything.. I work and don't have that kind of time.. Nice idea though..

You do realize of course that this contest is really only for those who have graphic abilities. For the rest of us, we don't stand a chance. But nice rewards targeted to a very few. Thanks anyway and I am sure you will get some very nice designs.
You must have rights to all graphic elements of the design in your submission.
Notice that this says you must HAVE rights, and not necessarily OWN the rights to the images (as in, you made the images yourself). This means that any images that you have that are free for using and editing would qualify. There are many images available like this.
Just make sure you are using images that would fall in this category.

This is the only way to do it Bugs. The theme designer must send the required PM and then it will go from there.
Theme authors..please create some themes with basic coloring and a conservative look. More business like and less on the frilly stuff. Perhaps creating a system where it automates the creation of themes easy.
Yes I have...my site is a product of that. But what I am talking about is applying all the base themes to custom colors.
You might consider requesting this at MUDS. I'd love for that to happen myself as I too use Custom Colors/Andros and would dearly love to what I could come up with using the other base themes.
Lynn, welcome to Multiply and I see you have joined a group but don't have your friends here yet. So I'm going to send you an invite (you can always dump me later once you get better friends) lol
You can invite friends that you know that aren't here yet at Multiply and you will meet a lot of nice people in many of the support groups and other groups you will find here. :)

It took me all these hours to figure out where I posted my comment at. Thanks for the invite! Maybe one day after YEARS of experience here I can create a background design.
I wish everyone the very best. I'm new so I won't be entering. Heck I'm still trying to figure out how to get friends. Good luck to all who enter.
Welcome to Multiply! I'm not new, but have a very small circle of friends. Maybe we will get to know each other. I will try and help, but a lot of this is still gibberish to me. I'm forever learning and getting lost...lol
GOOD LUCK to all who enter the contest! Looking forward to the end results!
Thanks ... i will like to win .. I never have before this be the first time ,,add me in ..with luck of God .i will...... WIN....... YES ,I HAVE JOINED THIS GROUP... YOUR IN MY POST TOO .. LET ME BE THE LUCKY TO BE THE NEXTS WINNER ... PICK ME ...PICKME... PLEASE .THANKS HAVE A GREAT DAY ANY WAY ..
question? when you say "no altering" of the header links, do you really literally mean NO altering - none whatsoever? like they have to stay in their tabs with their original colors and sizes and all that? just wondering.
I think clarification for this is needed because I know that people are changing font for their submissions. And changing them on themes as is usually done. I think the main issue is hiding and opaquing, and not font changes themselves as to color and type. I'll try to get some clarification on this or staff will see your question here.

thank you. : )
i'm sure they didn't mean you can't change the color as long as it's clearly visible, or can't get rid of the tabs if using andros, especially since other base themes don't have tabs. i just saw that phrase and thought, well, maybe i love andros and was seriously considering trying this, but if i can't lose the gray tabs, then maybe not.
As you can see with the current set of base themes, there's a great deal of variety in colors, styles, treatments, etc. As long as things are still completely functional and you haven't rendered anything not visible or functional, you should be fine. We don't want to stifle any creativity. :-)
I have submitted a theme for the contest and also sent a personal message to themecontest so I hope you got it because I do not see that anyone has read it yet according to the viewing history.
such as write about an exciting and unique feature Multiply can develop to add for its members thatd make the site continue to stand out from the rest of the Personal Sites
we already have this ability. if you haven't checked out MUDS yet, then i encourage you to do so. i can tell you that at least one of my ideas that i wrote a year ago came out in 4.0 - one click filters - and i am so grateful! and when they do implement our ideas, i think we all win. just having those filters at the ready is prize enough for me. : )
Can you please give us some idea of how long themes are usually held on moderation before they are posted? If a theme gets rejected for the contest, do we get informed about it so we can try again with another one?
dantcer wrote on Jul 10, '09, edited on Jul 10, '09
They are cleared through moderation daily. Notifications aren't sent for themes rejected, but they are only rejected if not posted according to the posting rules at customizedthemes so just make sure you read those.
They aren't rejected for any other reason though, and moderation at the group is based on group posting rules without anything to do with the theme contest. All themes there that were cleared through moderation are already showing as posted.
Any theme, while in moderation can still be viewed as a draft by the person that has posted it.

Dantcer, I submitted a theme but I cant find it in drafts anymore and it hasn't been posted either so I have no clue what happened to it. I read all the rules and had posted according to those rules or at least I thought I did. Will I try again or give up ? LOL

Try again but be sure your image links are posted according to the rules. That's the number one reason themes are rejected. The image PROPERTY url links must be associated with the album in the group and not associated to a personal site, a browser url or somewhere off Multiply.
Thanks Dantcer. It's all sorted now. I finally got an entry in. I thought any multiply album was acceptable but obviously not. Where do I go to make suggestions to the staff at customized themes about their rules? Do I go to someone in private or start a new blog on their site? Who is the best person to speak to about it?

You can talk to http://rogeriototh.multiply.com/ about it though if it's regarding image linking, I don't think that's open for discussion. Oh, and he's not staff. He's the User that created the group.
Not only does this ensure that the image links continue to work, but this group allows for hi res images to work in themes, by linking to the group albums.

Yes, submissions are over.
The 17th is the latest we should hear about the 8 finalists by. In other words, we might hear who they are sooner than that. But if we don't hear about who they are and the 17th has come and gone, that's when we start taking away their pocky.

Well, it's now after midnight EDT on the 18th of July. So, Meg, which flavor should I swipe for you? I hear the green tea Pocky is pretty good. Of course, if I can pass the green tea flavor off to you, that would be more chocolate for me. : )
not where Multiply is located. they're on the 18th now. already passing around their Pocky. what flavor would you like, Tina?
This is so funny ,all the time difference ,where is Multiply located ? What flavor ! Well I love *Angel from Terry Mugler ,this is my personal note *LOL*
