You may have noticed that we just rolled out some new features for Multiply. We hinted at some of these a few days ago, but now they're all finally ready.
We'll touch on each pretty briefly; there's a lot that's new and worth mentioning.
Flash video. Now when you share video on Multiply, we'll automatically convert it to Flash format, for easy viewing in your browser. You'll be able to download the original, and yes, embed these into other websites... just click "share." (We took a closer look at Flash video the other day; be sure to have a look!)
More imports. You can now import video content from YouTube, Google Video, and Photobucket. We've added ImageShack support to our growing list of image import tools. And if you blog on TypePad, you can now easily import your blog entries to Multiply.
Cross-posting. Blog imports are one thing... and are quite useful for catching up. But more excitingly, you can now blog concurrently with your LiveJournal, Blogger, or yes, TypePad account. Compose once and it's posted twice. (Enable each of these on the import pages for each respective service.)
Backdating. Many users have asked for the ability to have blog entries reflect a time and date other than the time they're posted. This new option will appear on your blog compose page once you've enabled Advanced Posting.
Revamped search. All the search tools you need -- whether you're looking for people, groups or content -- are now in one simple place.
Drag-and-drop your layout. If you use the "Boxes" layout type (as opposed to "Linear") for your Multiply page, you can now easily drag and drop content type sections -- or edit the way they display without leaving your homepage!
What you missed. These are still the same 'new content' alerts you may already be receiving, but now you can choose whether you want them daily, weekly (you choose the day!) or not at all. You can change this here.

Yea that would be awesome. I think that at some point Multiply should somehow be able to be fully accessed through mobile phone. Probably not anytime soon I'm sure, but Multiply would be the one to do it. I rarely see as much user-friendliness as Multiply seems to have. The Multiply staff obviously knows what they're doing.

Great new features, thank you! One thing though, my friends and I noticed that it takes longer for the pages to load now especially the first page compared to in the past.
Guys, you're doing an amazing job. I just want to endorse the request of having support for Portuguese. We have a huge community using Orkut that I am pretty sure would be here if Portuguese was supported by Multiply. Keep up the good work!
Hello. I think you guys did great at trying to get updates to this community. And I believe that you can do alot more.
There are some things that I personally find it strange. Why can't we embed videos into the blog entries? i think many people out there would love this option. And I found out 1 thing. In the process of importing videos from youtube, the videos gets re-encoded again, thus reducing the quality but not the load time. Is this my imagination or..? I think the youtube videos shld not be re-encoded again..
Oh yeah, about our usernames... some have been asking if we could change it, and currently we can't. Maybe you can have a feature of it being changed for a certain amount? Or something?
Attention Multiply your wasting your bandwidth and mine too. When I click the explore button I have mine set to view full entries but every single video people posts starts automatically downloading even if I don't want to view the videos. This is a waste of your bandwidth and mine since I'm on a 30gig limit a month. Videos should not autodownload unless you tell it to.
Also my page is messed up a bit since these new features went into effect I use the "Basecamp" theme and things are out of place just take a look for yourself.
Other than those two complaints keep up the AMAZING work!!!

I´ve been using multiply for some months and it´s indeed getting better each day. I have a suggestion; If you had the site translated into some languages, Like Portuguese, Spanish, French and German, you could have a large range of people that doesn´t speak another language using your services. So far I could volunteer myself to translate the site into Portuguese. I´m a Portuguese/English teacher and I have already worked as interpreter and translator. ;)

thanks for the improvements to mutiply. its been a great place to upload the photos i take and share with my customers and friends. drop and drag is making this a easier process and allowing more uploads per month (unlimited i think?) is a great idea too.. keep it up and thanks....
How long does it take for blogs to cross-post? I tried setting it up, but only the one that I imported at the time of trying to set up cross-posting ever appeared...is it 24 hours? 48? Do we know yet?
is there a way, that on the video thing, that i can make it to where people can NOT share my videos? theres one in perticular that im talking about. I would really like to have the cover photos for the videos as well.. Maybe like, click on the cover photo and it starts to play there? i dunno, but that one video of mine, i want every1 to be able to see it, but NOT share it...
it's made life easier to share pictures, thoughts and everything with friends who's living around the world. it's amazing and i'm also thinking of using multiply for my company's website so that i can manipulate it whever i like, instead of using websites where i have to engage somebody else to do it. see, im so addicted to multiply.

I am having serious problems using the new search feature. It won't search! Especially for music. It used to work before the update, but it doesn't anymore. Is this just me?
I HATE the new search function. Before, i used to find almost everything... now nothing will work. Words i've searched for before and found won't even pop up... even my stuff isn't found when i search.... Could you please fix this? Thanks

Eu recentemente ingressei no Multiply e achei o site incrivel muito facil e super útil. Legal que a cada vez ele é melhorado. Gostaria de sugerir que pessoas de fora, não usuários do multiply pudessem deixar recados apenas colocando o e-mail na hora d escrever a mensagem, como na maioria dos blogs por aí. Ou que fizessem um mural de recados onde as pessoas pudessem deixar recados e mensagens. Um grande abraço!!!
I recently got in Multiply and i thought the site is terrific, very easy and useful. Great the improving. I´d like to suggest that "outsiders" (people who´re not user of multiply) could leave messages just putting it´s e-mails on the message (or not), as in the most of blogs around. Or could there be a place for short messages like in orkut. Hugs..
So far everything's great. The new features are fantastic but seriously the search function needs to be improved a whole lot! Can't get any decent search result back. Hope you'll look into it further.

Love the new features. I was able to update my site making it look much more attractive. One thing id like to see is a visitor counter and guestbook. No biggy if it doesnt happen but just a thought. I have a lot of traffic and would like to know how many ppl come through. Another thing that would be cool are a few more themes or add features. Great job, keep up the excellent work. I love using multiply and ive even converted a few friends into signing up. Well done!!!

I use a 3th part app to post in all my sites, just Multiply.com don't have a API for this. You should work to develop a Multiply API, and don't use others persons work to fake a new feature.

I think you may be mistaken. Have you read the FAQ on cross-posting? With the feature enabled, entries that originate on one of these other services, regardless of how they're posted, should be automatically imported into your Multiply blog -- unless you choose to exclude them from importing, as detailed in that FAQ to which I linked ya.

I got so caught up in the teachings of Ayn Rand that I could hardly function as a human being — and then my ISP managed to delete all my e-mail. I am so unlucky sometimes! Anyway, I was completely mistaken. My bad, folks. I'm sorry. I'll never, ever, do it again.
I personally dont use ANY of these new features, but good anyways.. still asking and waiting for a simple "guest" or "anonymus" counter for my friends and "most see" pics or download, feature...

It's a great site! The main objective is to multiply, but sometimes you have to develop your mathematical functions like subtraction, division and addition to make your own site more meaningful. Again, congratulations!
