From time to time, we've taken time out to point to reviews or press
coverage of Multiply. Most of us here are emotionally secure and all,
but this type of attention still makes our hearts go
pitter-patter.
So you can imagine what the ambient
noise must have sounded like around the Multiply office during the last
few weeks, as our press coverage... well, pretty much
exploded multiplied. Sure, there was much pittering
and pattering abound, but there was, more importantly, a general sense
of happiness that, in a world where other (ahem) similar, yet very
different, websites get tons of press (perhaps not for the right
reasons), many of the same media outlets who report on those have
finally taken notice of what we're doing.
So here's
a quick rundown of a few of our favorite mentions. Some of these are in
reference to our recent
strengthening of our partnership with Transcosmos, some are
about Multiply in general, and some are even in reference to one
another, as is the nature of the blogosphere. One thing these have in
common: they all seem to "get"
it.
TechCrunch:Multiply aims to be distinct by
focusing closely on limiting interactions to people who are already
connected to each other. Beyond that, though, the system has a number
of interesting features...
C|Net
News.com:Users can
also limit access to their Multiply [site]. If users feel more
comfortable allowing only family members access to their baby pictures,
for example, they can impose restrictions on that access when
publishing the pictures...
Visible
Networking:Multiply
(again! Everybody talks about Multiply) allows users to share photos,
blogs, videos, music, etc. with their social
network...
Mashable:The site prides itself on its
“real world” model - instead of encouraging users to add countless
friends, Multiply labels your contacts based on your real-life
relationships (grandmother, brother, step-mother etc).
Boca
Raton News:Boca firm
web site: ‘more privacy’ to deter
predators
Talkin'
Tech: What I really
wanted to do was to upload some pictures but its features made me stick
to it -- especially the way it shows me the stuff my multiply contacts
has done.
I just hope that all this press doesn't lead Multiply into selling out to major corporations. I love my Multiply just the way it is...free of too many sponsors, promotions, etc. I'm happy that Multiply is getting the recognition that it most definitely deserves, but I hope it doesn't change the system. I don't wanna hear music artists, movies, etc saying "Check us out on our Multiply! "
I love, love, love my multiply...and I guess I"m just being selfish about keeping good things to myself! =)

What you have just changed in video makes me not upload videos anymore. People come to our site to see our pics, writings, events, and most especially our videos. And those people must download a specific software for it? They have just an hour or even half an hour to watch it. And they must download that apple software? My site is about me and my friends. Some videos are not just mine nor my friends, but also with my classmates. They go to our site to see the come out of what we have shooted. And here in my country, we have so called "internet cafe" that we paid per hour. Most of us cant afford a PC nor an internet connection. Through this internet cafe we just pay per hour. And i think the software that we must download takes 2-3 hours. And that would be a waste of time. Even I, I'm the one who upload the video but I dont want to see it after coz it makes me so tiring to think that I have to download this and that. And i couldnt surf as many windows as I want. Please do have an attention to this. I dont like what you just did. It makes me stop making videos.
I loved all the new stuff! In fact I was like a crazy looking for the option to change my page layout until I noticed that now we can just drag the sections to and fro and drop them in the place desired.
I would like to suggest a few new features that would help a lot: - In Music, the ability to change music tags and delete them - In Blog, more flexibility to choose the place where the images I upload will fit in the text and the option to put a caption under them.
posting blogs with sense and meaning...sharing pictures and videos with people you know...message threading to almost every aspect of the multiply site...keeping tabs on who visited who and who read whose journals...these are just some of the things that made multiply very different from others. and i made quite some few good friends over here, real friends.
