If you had a look at our blog in the last day or so, you saw a preview of a few of these features (Things to come (very soon)). If you're a member of the MUDS group, you had an in-depth look at -- and even a link to try -- one of the new features ahead of time (So you want to post via email...).
But here's the good news -- if you don't fall into either of those categories, we're not holding it against you -- you can now play with all the fun new stuff! It includes:
Easy color customization -- Perhaps the hardcore web designers among you are adept at mixing RGB values for colors, but for the rest of us (those who never even liked fingerpainting in pre-school) the color select panels for the default site theme now resemble the kind you'll find in your favorite graphics program.
As always, you'll find this on the custom colors page for the default site theme. While you're there, be sure to check out...
Easily add a background image -- Oh yes. This was one of the features mentioned yesterday, and is every bit as easy to use as we mentioned then. Pick an image. Click Save. It's your site's background; you're done.
And it's every bit as easy to add...
Background music on your homepage -- Greet your visitors with tunes from one of your public playlists. This only applies to your homepage, where a small Flash applet will appear at the bottom of your 'welcome' box. The applet allows visitors to cycle through the songs in the playlist, even pausing or muting them (because, you know, not everyone wants to hear your music).
High-rez images in blog entries -- If you "attach images" to your blog entries using the eponymous toolbar tool, the images inserted into your entry will now be clickable, automatically linked to their original, full-size versions.
Profile mini-preview -- We also went into more detail about this feature in the previous entry. While reading comments on any post, just mouse-over another user's headshot for a quick rundown on who they are and how you're connected to them.
And the big one -- Yes, you can now post content to Multiply via e-mail. This currently includes photos, videos, music, and even blog entries, and can be posted from any device that can send e-mail.
Note that different mobile phone service providers have different standards for attaching and sending content via e-mail/mms. We'd like to support as many as we can; if yours doesn't work, please send a message to customer service and we'll see what we can do about getting your mobile provider to play nice with Multiply.
Well, there you have it: the new stuff.
Be sure to let us know what you think of the new features. And if you'd use the word "love" to describe your feelings, an I Love Multiply! video wouldn't be a bad idea.
Since yesterday we have a new beta version of Blogger, Google blog service. There are a lot of new resources, like add more than one author, include external content, tags and others. So I decide to compare with Multiply, to decide if I stay here or no.
External Content - Using Blogger Beta you can add a a lateral bar, a video, or whatever you want in your page. - Using Multiply you also can add a external resource using a HTML code like YouTube at Welcome area or Custom Right Margin. And you don't need to be a HTML expert to do it. But I think Multiply could open Custom Right Margin for all users an put the ads in other place.
Layout - Using Blogger Beta you can drag and drop each box to a desired position. - You can do it with Multiply since last update.
Tags - In this Blogger Beta version, you can identify your subjects using tags. - You can do it with Multiply for a long time.
Privacy - Now, with Blogger Beta, you can restrict access to your posts. - You can do it with Multiply since ever. In fact, that's the reason that I choose Multiply at first time.
More than on author - With Blogger Beta, your blog can have more than an author. - You can't do it with Multiply.
My opinion:
Multiply has better resources and I will stay here. Most of Blogger Beta new features are old for Multiply users.
But, I really like this "more than one author" feature. What do you think, Multiply staff?

Hi Renata,
We have such a feature -- we just call such them "groups." Using groups, multiple authors can share blog entries in one central location... not to mention photos, videos and the other content types.
As the administrator of a group, it's up to you whether you want to restrict membership to certain or allow anyone to participate -- and the same goes for whether or not non-members should be allowed to view the postings.
Hey - the new features sound great, but I cant find where they are to use them. Am I a little premature, even though it says "they're here"? How do I do;

Yes Everett, I know Multiply Groups, I use them, but, I have my page here for 2 years, and now I want to add another author to my page, http://rvincoletto.multiply.com, everybody know this address.
It will be difficult change everything for an other address...

The same place you'd customize anything else in your home page or welcome box -- "Settings" --> "Home Page Content" :)

YAY! I love it! Multiply is everything I've been looking for =D hehehe
I miss Blogger, i still use it sometimes (they are linked) coz i can design my page easily with their templates. But I am slowly trasferring ALL my videos and photos from all my other acct youtube, flikr, yahoo etc....HERE.
Here I can have them ALL in 1 PLACE! AND all the new cool FEATURES rock! Well done! THANKS =D
Well this is great news but I would like to know how do I remove Photo albums from my welcome page from members who no longer exists here at Multiply as I can't open them...
I tried to include one of my playlists on my HomePage, but Javascript & CSS aren't allowed under my account. Was that an advantage of upgrading before Multiply unleashed?

I think all I have there is plain HTML. There's a counter (for my visitors) and a poll. This isn't the 1st time I've had this problem... I don't know what's wrong lol.

This feature is pointless and a waste of bandwidth. Not only that, but it doesn't work properly. The mini-preview doesn't always go away after you un-mouse-over.

In my experience, it always promptly goes away the instant my mouse moves a pixel outside of the box. Could you please tell customer service about this, noting the web browser/version you're using?
Oh holy mother of God... noooo...~~ music player nooo.... the annoyance doesn't end here after all!!!
Does this music start automatically? or does the user have the option to let it start automatically or not? i hate it when it starts automatically. it's so annoying. I seriously don't like music that starts automatically. especially one when you are not aware of. please don't let it start automatically.

How about we just get rid of it and solve the problem. ;-)

I, too, find the "profile mini-preview" less than fully desirable. (In part, this is because I am using a slow dial-up connection and a monitor with relatively limited resolution.)
I'm all for Multiply doing all it can with AJAX and alla alla alla that, but, even so.
Is there some way *I* can disable this for *me*? If so, *how*? Note, I am *not* asking that this feature be removed entirely -- just that I be able to enable and disable it, presumably from somewhere in my Settings page.

I find the music player icon just a little too chunky and it's left indented on my message box. How can I centralise it? I hope you can develop a player that's less pronounced than that one.
I hope that there is an option to place a background music on our blog entries to set the mood of the reader. Let's say we are talking about a palace or a mansion we can put a classical background music so that the readers can feel the ambiance. Then we can add pictures (already a feature of multiply) in our blog to further enhance the reader's experience.
My other idea is that we can choose to cascade the background music from our home page to our blogs or set individual background music to each of our blogs. We can also set it to play either automatically or manually. I think MULTIPLY will be innovating the way we write blogs.
The next step is probably MULTIPLY will be the first social engineering network to introduce DYNAMIC BLOGS (blogs that have pictures, background music or even videos). A social engineering network that put emotions to a blog.
An example application of a blog with a video is something like where you write an instruction one then place video one to actually show how it is done. Write an instruction two and place a video two to show again how it is actually done. So on and so forth.... Your blog is no longer static it becomes DYNAMIC.

I agree with wonderfulwanda that the player is too chunky. Lets have a less conspicuous bar, centralized at the bottom of the home page. Also, cant the music just play through seamlessly while the user is browsing throughout the site?

Excellent ideas! Hope the boffins at Multiply are taking these ideas on board and turning them into reality! Thanks Multiply!!!
Hi MP, thanks for continues upgrade on our site. Well, my personal comment is I might not use those background color & music, I am affraid that will slowing down the page loading. Content should come first. While others I dont really need that at this moment, so I take it as a compliment.
I just wondering how you guys in MP, decide which one to develop first. How you consider voice from users? is it taken the group discussion or mail in your cust-service? what its the best way I can do to propose an improvement?
Multiply needs two function. One is back-up blog function. Many bloggers are considering of having their own domain and webhosting blog in order to make sure they can back-up and keep those old record safe. If Multiply has that, it would be great. Also, Multiply needs custom domain name support (something like yourdomain.com)
1- The above mentioned "new features" do not apply to groups, do they? 2- Why doesn't the "greeting playlist" play on "groups", unless you are login as a member? Otherwise, you don't have any music, but the description shows !?!?!? Strange!
Is there some way *I* can disable this for *me*? If so, *how*? Note, I am *not* asking that this feature be removed entirely -- just that I be able to enable and disable it, presumably from somewhere in my Settings page.
After further exposure to this feature, where my mouse is skittering around a page and all of a suddenly semi-randomly this sh*t pops up in the middle of the page obscuring what I actually *want* to see...
How can I, *please*, disable this functionality at least for me? Because I Do Not Like It. I'm capable of clicking (or better yet, *right*-clicking) on a link if I want to know something about someone.
Do I need to install Greasemonkey (I use Firefox) and find someone who's written a script to obliterate this feature for me? Because, I *can* do that if I must, I suppose, but I'd rather do it the clean way server-side if I can.
Anyone help me please, I just newly joined this blog, and I found other blogger has Recipe & Market tab/ icon on their main page while mine there is not. How can I have those tabs??? to be honest I don't need upload video tab/ icon. If I could replace it with recipes???

people just rename their reviews or whatever to become Recipes or whatever you like. Or change you blog to Recipe. You can change it by going to your Settings page and then click on "Page Titles & Layout". You can also set favourites by going to "Home Page Content".
i'm having a problem .. that ultiply has not addressed yet.. i eeven ,made a new account and the problem continued.. when i upload my mp3s - the charters in the title: turn in to "gibberish.. if u visit my site you'll see...

OK, lot of new features... and the "hidden" one: downloads limited to 40 Mo! So many great DJ sets will need to find hosting elsewhere. Very disappointing...
Thanks a lot for the new features! How do I do the following, though?

It would be nice to be able to pick and choose the setup you actually need...I don't need a calendar, reviews, links, or video...so it would make for a simpler page layout without all these stumbling blocks that lead to nowhere. JMO... :-}}}}

I don't think anyone sees those but you (and only when you're signed in).
Oh, and the music on my site doesn't play at all. What's that about? I've clicked pause, play, skip and everything else but nothing happens. And my friend couldn't hear the music on my site either but I can hear hers. Or used to.

you will have to go to 'settings', 'homepage content' and then click on 'Play music on my homepage' choosing one of your playlist. I have chosen to keep only one song so that the page doesn´t get very heavy.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice. I have that set up already and it still doesn't work. Any other ideas?
