yeah, this weeks hurricane was brought to you by Publix. Where we say 'it's the end of the month do what ever you have to just get those shelves emptied' Like i'm gonna sit around and drink that much water...
Hey don't worry, it grabbed some people's attention haha! Good to hear you're all okay though. Was that a "storm in a teacup" or "much ado about nothing"? LOL!
it's known as "dodging the bullet". I get tired of hearing people complain about a storm NOT being severe. Until you've sat in your house and listened to it break apart around you (Andrew) you really have no appreciation for what a hurricane can really do, and that scoffing at taking them seriously is only done by those who have never been through a real one. Pray that you never do have to experience the real thing, and ALWAYS be prepared for the worst, and thank God if it doesn't happen.
Guess some people aren't familiar with the concept of black humor. :^) Anyway, as someone who's lived through and rode out a goodly number of hurricanes here in the Ft. Myers area including most recently Charley (2004), Katrina (2005) and Wilma (2005), I've learned you have to keep at least a little sense of humor about the whole thing or else it gets too damn depressing. Believe me, I take them seriously. I've seen first hand the damage they can do and make all the necessary preparations to either hunker down or flee as the situation warrants.
That said, I do find tiresome the hype that the media throws at every little tempest that comes along. They seem almost eager for major destruction and death to boost their ratings... I mean you can literally hear the eagerness in their voices as they speculate on the level of storm surge and likely damage. Blehhhh...
Oh believe me I get lots of laughs, especially from those types who boast "I ain't sceered of no herecane!". Better to remove them from the breeding pool.
And newscasters are a pretty weird bunch anyway. Robin and Company's only comment as Ernesto moved through Miami was "How big those rain-drops are"? Probably about as big as her brain.
I just get upset because I've been trying to convince my parents that owning a home in Florida is not the best option for an older retired couple, especially because my Father leaves my Mother alone for the week, and she has to attempt to board up the house with no help. And yes, I sat in my walk-in closet in South Miami Florida during Hurrican Andrew and listened to the windows implode and the roof disintegrate, that's why I won't live anywhere in Florida anymore.
It was pretty much a no-show here in Toronto, with the exception of a few areas. I hope the folks further south of us get up and running again soon. My condolences to those families who lost someone they loved.
i have a problem here in my multiply!!! wahhh!!! pls help me!! whenever i press the link photos or other links suddenly something will appear it says page cannot be displayed!! its always like that!!! wahhh!!! plssss!!! help me!!!
Glad everyone in Ernesto's path is okay, but my county (Duplin County) in NC was hit the hardest with all the rain and flooding. The waters just have started to receed yesterday. Thankfully that was on the other side of the county. We were okay.
soooo...... nuthin' happened? ...really? like at all? not that im stupid or anything but ima cali. girl and even tho we hear about this stuff in the news, ..the news exaaaggerates everything. But im glad things are good. ♥ lily
Everybody just please pray that Florence (already out there) doesn't hit land. If she does, we are in for way worse than what Ernesto brought. Ground didn't get the chance to dry out -- had rain all week. It won't take much to flood worse and take down a bunch of trees.
