We're pretty sure you already love Multiply, and now that we've made sharing your videos about as easy as pie, you're probably looking for every excuse you can find to make and post new videos to Multiply.
So we'll give you another one.
We're thrilled to announce the
I LOVE MULTIPLY
VIDEO CONTEST
We'll assume for a minute that you, in fact, do love Multiply.
Consistent with that, we'd love to hear why!
(And yes, in the form of a short video would be great.)
It's easy:
Step 1: Check to see if your digital camera or cell-phone can take video. (If you're not sure, contact us and we'll try to help you figure it out.) If it doesn't grab a friend's so you can win one that does!
Step 2: Shoot a video of yourself telling everybody why you love Multiply. Be funny. Be serious. Be honest. Or, heck... you can even lie if you want. But make sure your video is between 15 and 60 seconds in length.
Step 3: Upload the video to your Multiply site; making sure to tag it "I Love Multiply" (without the quotes, please). Also, make sure it's posted with "Everyone" access, so we (and everyone else) can see it!
Step 4: Tell your friends to submit their videos. (Yeah, this isn't a requirement, but it'll definitely make things more fun.)
That's it! To get things going, the first 25 people to upload a suitable video will receive a Multiply t-shirt. They're great (even we wear them!), but they're not the real prize.
Three lucky Grand Prize winners will be chosen at random to receive brand spanking new Casio Exilim digital cameras.
They take photos. And videos. And Multiply just so happens to be the perfect place to share both -- and the rest of your digital creations!
So just remember -- tag your videos I Love Multiply and share them with the world!
Sorry, the contest is only open to U.S. residents, but everyone should feel free to post their videos... we'd still like to see them! For the full rules and conditions our lawyers make us include, click here.
Love mutliply to death... but uhm... if I already had a digital camera that could take video then why would I enter a contest to get another one? Send me that exilim and I'll make a video of whatever you want =)

done and done... http://russelm.multiply.com/video/item/16 (though my network's kinda small) It'd be kinda cool to have a multiply-searchable function for tags and blogs...
Waaahh! Why is this just limited to US residents? I'd love to join the contest!!! I'm one of the first few people who used Multiply and I guarantee you that most of the Filipinos who have Multiply were invited by me! And they invited their own friends, and so I've created a really big network here. Oh, and I've invited non-Filipinos as well..took a chance and was bold enough to invite our clients, business partners and my big bosses, too! And they're all here now! Heck, I can be the Filipino endorser of Multiply.
Can we have another contest for Asians? Or can I join and just use my brother's address (he lives in NYC now)?

For those of you that are unhappy by not being able to participate because you are not an U.S. resident, please join this group Video Contest: Why Not Us and only U.S. Thus, we can show how many we are.
Updated: The group above is no longer available. Please read my last reply on this thread. Thanks Rogerio.

Para vocês que não estão contentes em não poder participar do concurso porquê vocês não são residentes dos EUA, por favor junte-se a esse grupo: Video Contest: Why Not Us and only U.S. Assim, podemos mostrar quantos nós somos.
Atualizado: O grupo acima não está mais disponível. Por favor leia o minha última resposta nesta mensagem. Obrigado, Rogerio.
^^ i hope, rogeriototh, that they listen to ur petition. the whole thing would be more fun if it were a global contest.. after all it's the diversity that makes it so much fun here at multiply
US only? Why? We're less than US residents? Maybe it's cheaper to send the prizes, how many pounds 3 cams could possible weight? This time Multiply isn't showing something remarkable about its behavior, concern about costumers, I hope this to change.
Contest law varies even more between different countries. If you were to open up a contest to people all over the world, you would have to research the law in every single country on earth, to avoid getting yourself in legal trouble. For a typical promotional contest, this is just too much work. The legal fees for the required research would be much more than the payoff of the promotion. Additionally, there are some problematic legal questions inherent in any international contest. For example, if something were to go wrong, -- say, the prize was lost in shipping -- what court would the contest winner go to? It would be a very tough legal question just figuring out who had jurisdiction.
What it comes down to is that it's just too much work for a company to find out how to cover themselves, legally, in multiple countries and in all states. After all, the typical rules and regulations of a contest running only in the United States take up 20 or so paragraphs. Just think how small a company would have to make the print to cover itself internationally!
I don't think multiply doesnt love us as mentioned above...its just that running an international contest (legally) is nearly impossible.
I see your point and I can understand that. But lawyers (I am not saying anything bad about them, right?) makes it all bigger than what it actually is. It is about 3 cameras and 60secs videos. We are not talking about buying a house overseas, not even, huge money exchange between countries. Otherwise, we should stop talking to each other (from one country to another), just because when we say "Hello" we may get in trouble because of some country law, right?
I've read the contest rules. And I agree it was written based on the U.S. law. But let's expand that to our "relation" to Multiply. If I use Multiply, that's because I've agreed to the Terms of Service. And it is clear there that I am allowed to use the service as far as I agree with those terms. And I am pretty sure it is based on the U.S. law. So myself, as user, accepted the terms. Why something similar can't it be done in this case?
I think, shipping is not a good example, as Multiply ships printed photos internationally. So it would be like the same. But I know what you mean.
Anyway, thanks for your time answering this. I think it is the best answer I would get from now.
ytse, i figured as much... too bad law makes things so complicated.. i'm sure if multiply could, they would extend it to all its users...
but rogerio, u can still tell em what u love abt multiply... it's a random drawing anyway, it's not like the best video wins or anything... so everyone just participate and have fun making ur videos :-)
Well, I know that. In fact, my first thought was on how fun it could be. I got excited with the idea of expressing myself on why “I love Multiply”. I did not thought about the prizes at all. So, when I tried to figure out if this video could be done in Portuguese (I really thought, “it would promote Multiply to Portuguese speaking people!”) then I realized that it was only to U.S. residents.
I do love Multiply. Telling why I love Multiply is to explain why I do "campaign" to bring more people everyday (those people actually think I earn something from Multiply...). Is also to explain, why I get involved with some groups to try to help other users, like MUDS and MultiplyNewbie, and especially to help Portuguese speaker users. Furthermore, it is to explain why Multiply makes my real life tighter connected to the people that I know, because that people share with me what they would normally leave on their computers just because they don't have how to share easily. And don’t forgetting to tell how supportive is the Multiply staff.
For us (users) Multiply is all about Internet, so there are no boundaries. You can meet people from virtually anywhere and have nice and productive discussions. It is all about choice: you make it by yourself. When you think in all that and realize that this universality is just “one-way road”, you may also realize that you are giving much more that you really should. So I may do the video but I won’t fell the same, as it would never be selected.
The contest is valid for U.S. Residents. Period. I just hope next time we (foreigner members) can be a part of a whole.

I forgot to tell: Good luck to whom is allowed to participate. And to the others, please don't take my disappointment as yours. If you wish, go ahead and make the video, I am sure you will have fun with that.
Multiply staff has contacted me. As usual, they acted very straightforward.
The contest rules are really based on the U.S. regulations regarding contests. As user ytse pointed out above, Multiply staff explained me that it is impossible to comply with all the regulations from many places where Multiply’s users live.
That’s also clear that if they could, they certainly would do it for all users, as they value all their customers equally.

I hope I could make myself clear.
Thanks to all.
Rogerio.
Rogerio is correct. It would be impossible for us at Multiply to comply with all the laws and regulations imposed by the hundreds of countries where we have users. It would be great if down the road a non-US company wants to sponsor a contest on Multiply and handle all the requirements so users from that country can participate. We'd love that.
Our goal with this was simply for everybody to have some fun. In the last couple months we made some major improvements in terms of video such as converting uploads to flash and eliminating limits and fees. (Giving all users free, unlimited uploads of video, music and photos was one way of saying "Multiply loves you".) We figured if everybody posted a video about Multiply it would be a fun way to celebrate those new changes.
So please, don't not upload a video because you can't win a camera. As chocolatny wrote "the whole thing would be more fun if it were a global contest". So make it global by participating for the sake of having some fun. That's why I uploaded my video (because I too can't win since employees of Multiply are ineligible).
I do not own a digital camera so I will write my reply.
I love multiply because it has reconnected me to my sister. We had not spoken for along time when she sends me an invitation and I accept it sense then we have been inseparable. One other thing through multiply my husband was found by a lost relative and now we are planning a family reunion a the way to the Dominican Republic. I recommend multiply to anyone and everyone I meet. Thank you multiply for uniting our family.
Hmmmmmmmmm....i should try this multiply to have more friends..to talk them in a decent way.Well, this is good.because everything has a reason and this should give us reason to thank for.Thank you multiply and i wish there are many people who are willing to participate this global connection.
Pitty it is only open to those of you who live in America & not us who live in the rest of the world as I could do with a new camera that can record video on it as well as still photos.... :o(
we both love Multiply, it helps to connect friends and be inspired by their messages and pictures, it was a very good, i have fun and i enjoy it very much
Keith and I give photo workshops and the attendees can post their work from the workshop as well as photos they want to share. It's a great way to keep in contact with our friends.
ur canadian video is nice. it shows tru canadian spirit :-p "hi, i'm canadian, i'd like to try, but i can't, so u try it...(looks and points up) go there"...please...MINES FUNNIER!!! :-p jk

I thoght about the same thing as Rogerio: to make a film in polish language (perhaps with subtitles;-) And its clear, that it's for fun. But too bad, that all the people from U.S.-abroad are an other category-people...I thing, multiply have his own products like photo-prints or pay-services (f.a.higher-level-multiply for 1 year) - it can be or so a good price and for all the multiply-members. Sorry for my english;-)
For US residents only?! Awe...that's too bad cos i happen to be a devoted teen movie maker...Want proof? Check out my account and click on the video category, I've already posted a few of my leisure works..and 2 movies for my project at school..My dearest, Multiply, include everyone in this contest if you may please. =)
Hmm multiply open the contest called" Love multiply" to express how we love multiply. But only open for US residents. That mean the rest of us other than US can make " Hate Multiply" movie? Heh..just joking.. we still love you MULTIPLY.
since I see most multiply user's don't live in the US my chances of winning are tripled!! Muhahaha...how about bwahahahaha, does that sound better. I do feel bad for non US user so i'll state you in my video.

I'm in agreement. In most countries where I have practiced law, local law does not forbid the parties to an international transaction to choose the law applicable to the agreement and the venue to discuss any disagreements. Both civil and common law systems allow for this type of provision. This already includes a great deal of countries.
Food for thought. Multiply is about connecting. It's about sharing. So why not try and go the extra mile to treat everyone the same way?
I really love this site.. I'm glad to share my pictures, blog and to see my friends with their funny photos.. I'm thankful to be a part of this wonderful site..
it's so unfair! I'm from the Philippines and i can't join this contest... I honestly love Multiply! cuz it helped me find my long lost childhood friend... And i want a camera, to be frank...
i like multiply because thats a good way to meet new friends and make new friends in this new group and get to know them in a special way and make them feel like a family close to their hearts.
